Notre Dame is an independent and during the 2020 season, many of the "mid-tier" schools like Coastal Carolina and Liberty University made their case as to why they belong with the bigger programs. After the upsets during the 2020 season, the bowl games for the 2021 season may reflect some of these upstarts.
