Christopher Cross (May 3, 1951) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter born in San Antonio, Texas. On December 27, 1979, Cross released his first album, Christopher Cross. Four singles from this album reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100: "Ride Like the Wind" (with Michael McDonald on background vocals), "Sailing," "Never Be the Same," and "Say You'll Be Mine" (with Nicolette Larson on background vocals). While "Sailing" spent two weeks at the top of the U.S. Hot 100, "Ride Like the Wind" peaked at number two.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues was released in theaters in 2013, and the song "Ride Like the Wind" was included in the film's original soundtrack. His first album, Secret Ladder, was out in September 2014, and his second, Take Me as I Am, came out in November 2017. The Tobin Center in San Antonio, Texas, was the site of his hometown concert in 2017. He formed the Austin band Freedonia in 2018 with a few other musicians.

In late 2019, Cross embarked on a tour titled "It Was Fifty Years Ago Today - A Tribute to the Beatles' White Album" alongside Todd Rundgren, Jason Scheff, Micky Dolenz, and Joey Molland of Badfinger. Songs "Sailing" and "Ride Like the Wind" were sung by Cross. For the past year, Cross has been performing with the band Freedonia. "Freedonia" and "Firefly" are their two full-length albums, and "Bring Back The Dinosaurs" is their extended play.
