Cigarettes After Sex is a dream pop band with a lineup of Greg Gonzalez, Jacob Tomsky, and Randall Miller. Cigarettes After Sex was founded in 2008 in El Paso, Texas. Gonzalez moved to Brooklyn, New York, where the band recorded and released its single "Affection" in 2015, along with a rendition of REO Speedwagon's "Keep On Loving You."

Cigarettes After Sex gained popularity on YouTube through song recommendations, leading to live concerts in Europe, Asia, and the United States. On June 9, 2017, the band released their self-titled debut studio album.

The band announced their next album, Cry, and the single "Heavenly" in August 2019 and released it on October 25, 2019. In November 2022, a new song titled "Pistol" was published. The band's most recent single, "Bubblegum," was released in July 2023, along with "Stop Waiting."
