Lee Ji-Eun (May 16, 1993) is a multi-talented South Korean artist born in Songjeong-dong, Seoul. Her stage name is IU. She began her singing career at the tender age of fifteen with her debut extended play (EP) Lost and Found (2008), after her 2007 trainee signing with LOEN Entertainment (now Kakao Entertainment).

After the smashing success of Real+ and Last Fantasy in 2011, IU solidified her reputation as Korea's "little sister" and became an unstoppable force in her own country's music charts. Additionally, her 2011 TV series The Greatest Love song "Hold My Hand" was her debut attempt at composition.

Even though Love Poem and Lilac, her subsequent albums, continued to explore and combine different genres, IU remained a dominant force on the South Korean music charts. As of 2020, her debut song "Eight" peaked at #1 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales list.

In its 2023 list of the best singers of all time, Rolling Stone ranked her at No. 135. The news of IU and BTS member Suga's second collaboration, this time under the alias Agust D, for the song "People Pt. 2," was revealed by Big Hit Music on April 4, 2023. D-Day, Suga's debut solo album, included the song as a pre-release single on April 7. The song "Love Wins All" was dropped by IU on January 24, 2024. The Winning, her sixth extended play, was published on February 20, and this would be one of its parts.
