Sleep Token is a London-based British alternative metal band. The group was formed in 2016. The band is an anonymous, disguised collective fronted by a leader known only as Vessel. The other three members are given the pseudonyms II, III, and IV. They've been classified as alternative metal, progressive metal, indie rock/pop, post-rock/metal, among others.

The band signed their first deal with Basick Records and released two albums. One was the extended play (EP), Two in 2017, and the second was their debut extended play (EP), One in 2016. Later, the band joined Spinefarm Records and released their first full-length album, Sundowning. The album came out in 2019. This Place followed this Will Become Your Tomb in 2021. Take Me Back to Eden, the third album, was released in May 2023.

Sleep Token announced a UK headline tour for January 2023 at the end of 2022. Northlane supported the tour along with an Australian tour for April/May. Sleep Token received a nomination for Best UK Artist at the Heavy Music Awards in March 2023. The band also got the Best UK Artist honor at the Heavy Music Awards in May 2023.

In the same month, the group revealed plans for a stand-alone headlining performance at Wembley Arena in December 2023. Ten minutes after tickets went on sale to the general public, the Wembley Arena performance was sold out.
