Later in January, the team signed free agents SS Ezequiel Pen, RHP Yander Maria, SS Juan Monso, OF Cesar Lugo, SS Fernando Cruz, and 2B Enyel Rosario, among others, to minor league contracts. 

C Brian Serven was also grabbed off waivers by the Colorado Rockies. In March, the Cubs took an early lead in the Easter series finale thanks to a three-run home drive by Christopher Morel. Recently, on May 7, Cody Bellinger returned from the injured list to hit a single home run in the fourth inning of game two against the Padres.

According to the team's enthusiastic announcement, the Chicago Cubs will host the Cubs Convention in January 2025, and fans may start booking hotel rooms in August 2024. Over the course of three days, guests at the Sheraton Grand Chicago will have the chance to meet and get autographs from current and former Cubs players, prospects, and idols, listen to special panel discussions, play Cubs Bingo, and much more.

According to manager Craig Counsell, Wesneski is "going well" since he has returned to playing catch. Following a setback in his performance against Arizona, the right-handed pitcher was placed on the injured list in July when imaging indicated a strain in his forearm.
