Chivas Guadalajara, a football team based in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, competes professionally. The squad plays in Liga MX, the highest level of football in Mexico. There are ten original teams in the Primera División, and Guadalajara is one of only seven that has never been demoted.

After playing in Estadio Jalisco for many years, Guadalajara moved to Estadio Akron in Zapopan in 2010. Guadalajara, the sole Mexican football team, won't let foreigners try out for the national team.

Red, white, and blue are the team's official uniform colors, representing "fraternity," "union," and "sports," respectively. The club's origins may be traced back to the city of Bruges; therefore, they are the colors they wear now. Fans of Chivas wave a banner that looks identical to the French tricolor.

Fernando Hierro was announced as their sporting director on October 21, 2022. After waiting another ten days, he finally named Veljko Paunovic, the coach for the Chicago Fire. Criticism came his way at his decision since he was unfamiliar with Mexican football and had abandoned a Reading club in a relegation struggle.

Despite this, he guided Chivas to a place in Clausura 2023's top four and into the Liguilla. According to a higher rating, Chivas would advance to the semi-finals despite tying with local rivals Atlas 1–1.
