Funny Girl is a 1964 Broadway musical with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Bob Merrill, and a book by Isobel Lennart. The narrative is loosely based on the life and career of comic and Broadway star Fanny Brice and centers on her tumultuous romance with businessman and gambler Nicky Arnstein.

Brice's son-in-law, Ray Stark, produced the original Broadway musical featuring Barbra Streisand. At the 18th annual Tony Awards, the play was nominated eight times. In 2004, the Grammy Hall of Fame inducted the original cast recording of Funny Girl.

Broadway previews for a revival production featuring Beanie Feldstein as Fanny Brice, directed by Michael Mayer, began on March 26, 2022, at the August Wilson Theatre. With music direction by Michael Rafter and a reworked text by Harvey Fierstein, the show's official opening night was set for April 24, 2022. Jane Lynch played Mrs. Brice, and the cast also included Ramin Karimloo (Nick Arnstein), Jared Grimes (Eddie Ryan), and others.

On April 24, 2022, Beanie Feldstein took the stage as Brice in a revival of the show that featured a new book by Harvey Fierstein. After July 2022, Feldstein was no longer involved with the show. The new Broadway cast album, which features Lea Michele in the role of Brice, was released in November 2022. On September 3, 2023, it officially shut down after earning back its $16.5 million in financing.
