Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a 1,200-acre complex for motorsports racing having multiple tracks in Clark County, Nevada. The speedway drag strip and road course officially opened in 1972. In 1985, a 3/8 mile oval was inaugurated, and in 1996, a 1.5-mile oval opened. It has a seating capacity of 80,000. The speedway is under Speedway Motorsports, Inc., and it is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. The first race on the speedway was with an IndyCar event on September 15, 1996. A NASCAR Truck Series race followed it in November of the same year.
Some of the other initial events at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway include the Winston No Bull 5 Million Dollar Bonus (1999 to 2002), Champ Car races, and a few more. The track underwent reconfiguration, and on August 8, 2006, the newly reconfigured track reopened meant for stock cars. The first NASCAR Cup Series driver was Kurt Busch to test a stock car in his No. 2 Penske Dodge. The first NASCAR race run on the surface was the Truck Series race in September 2006. Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) is one of the largest rave festivals in North America by Insomniac Events at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March 2001.
