The Footprint Center, previously Phoenix Suns Arena, is located at 201 East Jefferson Street, Phoenix, Arizona, USA. This venue is an entertainment and sports arena which was opened to the public on June 6, 1992, at a construction cost of $89 million. The former names for the venue are America West Arena, US Airways Center, and Talking Stick Resort Arena. The venue has a seating capacity of 18,422. The architectural work for this venue is done by Ellerbe Becket. It underwent some major renovation in the year 2003 with an estimated cost of $63 million.
The Footprint Center hosts various events including arena football, wrestling, football, ice shows, concerts, etc. It serves home to the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League (IFL), and the Phoenix Mercury of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The most common nickname for the arena is "The Purple Palace," though during the Rattlers' season it is known as "The Snake Pit."
Some notable sports events held at the arena are Arizona Sandsharks, 1993 NBA Finals (3 games), 2009 NBA All-Star Game, Built Ford Tough Series, etc. Some popular performances held in this arena were carried out by Frank Sinatra, Bon Jovi, Twenty One Pilots, etc.
