Thomas and Mack Center is an arena which is located at Maryland Parkway, Paradise, Nevada. The venue opened to the general public on December 16, 1983. It has a seating capacity of about 19,522 people at a time. The venue is named after the two prominent Nevada based bankers named E. Parry Thomas and Jarome D. Mack. It underwent a significant renovation in the year 1999. The architecture of the Thomas and Mack Center was designed by Mark Thomas of a local firm named Mark Thomas Architects. The venue is under the ownership and is operated by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The Thomas and Mack Center hosts a variety of events such as music festivals, concerts, conventions, and boxing cards. Well-known bands such as the Motley Crue, KISS, Van Halen, AC/DC, Metallica, U2, Phish, Guns N’ Roses, Pearl Jam and Aerosmith have performed at the arena. The World Music Awards were also held at the Thomas and Mack Center. Popularly known star Sir Elton John and famous comedian Eddy Murphy have also performed at the arena. The Thomas and Mark Center also hosted lectures by Mikhail Gorbachev and Bill Clinton. The final Presidential Debate for the 2016 presidential election was also held in the arena.
