5th Avenue Theatre is a performance theatre located at 1308 5th Ave. Seattle, Washington. It opened to the public on September 24, 1926. The opening ceremony included a silent film 'Young April' and stage performances of Fanchon and Marco's 'The Night Club.' The construction cost of the theatre was around $1.5 million. It serves home to the 5th Avenue Musical Theatre Company. The theatre has a seating capacity of about 2,130 people. It is under the ownership of the University of Washington and operated by the non-profit 5th Avenue Theatre Association. Robert Reamer designed the architecture of the building. The entire interior is designed in ancient Chinese revivals with the Italian Renaissance. The theatre was closed in 1978, but in 1979, it was saved again by the theatre association under a $2.6 million loan. The venue underwent many renovations and closures after the earthquake, but it continued to carry on the re-openings by donors and volunteers. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since November 28, 1978, and ranked 5th among the nation's largest musical theater companies.

5th Avenue theatre host six to seven shows per year, with local production of musical theatre classics, premieres shows, national touring musicals, new testing musicals events, education, outreach programs, orchestra, and awards shows. Some notable events held in the theatre include Tony Awards-style ceremony, Broadway musicals of Jekyll & Hyde in 1995, Hairspray in 2002, and The Wedding Singer in 2006. Seasons production includes Come from Away, Urinetown, Rock of Ages, etc.
