Memphis Memorial Stadium, also known as Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, is a football stadium located at 335 South Hollywood Street, Memphis, Tennessee. It serves as the home field to the University of Memphis Tigers football team of the American Athletic Conference, the AutoZone Liberty Bowl game, and the Southern Heritage Classic. The stadium was inaugurated on September 16, 1965, with a construction cost of around $3.7 million. It has a seating capacity of about 58,318 people. The facility is under the ownership of the City of Memphis and operated by Memphis Park Commission. Yeates, Gaskill & Rhodes, along with Bounds & Gillespie Architects, designed the venue.
The Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium played host to The Monsters of Rock Festival Tour, featuring Kingdom Come, Van Halen, Dokken, Scorpions, and Metallica on July 9, 1988. Popular bands such as The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, and U2 also have performed at the stadium. The venue has hosted several home games of the Ole Miss Rebels, Tennessee Vols, and Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Memphis Southmen, also known as the Memphis Grizzlies, played in the stadium in 1974 and 1975. The Memphis Express of the Alliance of American Football played in the stadium for its inaugural season in 2019.
