Clue - The Musical
The Tivoli Theatre is a historic theatre. It is also known as the Tivoli and the Jewel Of The South. It is located at Broad Street, Chattanooga, Tennessee. The venue was built between the years 1919 and 1921. The theatre was opened to the general public on March 19, 1921. The Tivoli Theatre has a seating capacity of about 1,012 in the orchestra, 78 in the loge, 48 in upper boxes, 312 in the upper balcony, 312 in the lower balcony, and 104 in the removable orchestra pit seating. The architecture of the theatre was designed by a Chicago based architectural firm Rapp and Rapp and a well known Chattanooga architect named Reuben H. Hunt. The Tivoli Theatre is under the ownership and is operated by Chattanooga’s Department of Education, Arts, and Culture. Tivoli became the first air-conditioned building in the United States.
The Tivoli Theatre has been the host of several events and concerts. On the first day of the Tivoli’s opening, the entire day was dedicated to multiple concerts performed by the Tivoli Symphony and screening of Cecil B. De Mille’s film Forbidden Fruit. Many famous actors, actresses, movies and shows such as Mae Murray, Halen Hayes, Lynn Fontanne, Louis Arm Strong, Fanny Brice, Alfred Lunt, Marilyn Horne, Idiot’s Delight, Mary Of Scotland, TheEarl Carroll Vanities, The Old Maid, The Ziegfeld Follies, The Greater Marcus Show, and The Snow White and the Three Stooges were played at the Tivoli’s Theatre.
