Agganis Arena is a multi-purpose arena located at 925 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts. It serves home to the Boston University Terriers men's ice hockey team. The venue opened to the general public on January 3, 2005, with a construction cost of around $225 million. Agganis Arena has a seating capacity of 6,150 people for hockey and ice shows, along with approximately 7,200 for concerts and other events. It is owned and operated by Boston University. CannonDesign designed the architecture of the arena. A bronze statue of Agganis stands outside the venue sculpted by Armand LaMontagne.
Agganis Arena serves as a regional auditorium for significant events including, musical awareness events, concerts, ceremonies of other schools such as Berklee College of Music, sporting events, conferences, commencement ceremonies, trade shows, and appearances by speakers such as Dave Chappelle and Barack Obama. Annual CRASH-B World Indoor Rowing Championship has been held in the venue since 2008. Other events hosted at the arena include; 2009 Women's Frozen Four, the ELEAGUE Major tournament for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, TNA Wrestling's anniversary show Slammiversary, the 2007 America East Men's Basketball Tournament, and All Elite Wrestling. Famous artists and bands that have given their live performances at the arena include; Lizzo, Kali Uchis, and Glass Animals.
