The Webster Bank Arena, previously named as the Arena at Harbor Yard, is a multi-purpose arena located at 600 Main Street, Bridgeport, Connecticut, next to the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Its ground was shattered on October 19, 1999, and opened to the general public on October 10, 2001. The venue has a seating capacity of 10,000 for concerts, up to 9,000 for Basketball, and 8,412 for Ice Hockey. The arena is owned by the City of Bridgeport and operated by Oak View Group. The architecture of the venue was designed by BBB Architects, Ltd incorporation along with Kasper Group Inc at a construction cost of $79.6 million. The main tenants of the arena include Bridgeport Sound Tigers from 2001-present, Fairfield Stags from 2001-present, Sacred Heart Pioneers from 2010-present, and Connecticut Huskies from 2013-present.
One of the most important happenings at the arena was President Obama’s rally. Some notable sports events held at the venue are the Fairfield Stags Basketball, MAAC Basketball tournaments, NCAA Basketball tournaments, NCAA Hockey tournaments, Park City SportsFest, NHL preseason Hockey on September 30, 2006, and NBA preseason Basketball on October 18, 2003, and October 15, 2005. A few special events include Gymnastics on November 12, 2016, mixed martial arts on August 24, 2019, Pro Wrestling on June 1, 2019, and some others.
