The Riverbend Music Center is located at 6295 Kellogg Ave, Cincinnati, OH. The center is officially known as the J. Ralph Corbett Pavilion. It is an outdoor amphitheater with a seating capacity of 20,500 people (6,000 reserved seats and 14,500 on the lawn). The amphitheater was built to provide the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra an outdoor venue to perform in summer. The Riverbend Music Center is under the ownership of Music and Event Management, Inc.and operated by the same. It was opened to the general public on July 4, 1984, with a construction cost of $9 million. Michael Graves designed the architecture of the building.
Along with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra it also currently serves home to Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. The venue is the part of the Hulbert Taft Jr. Center for the Performing Arts. When the amphitheater was inaugurated, it was considered as one of the only 16 outdoor music amphitheaters in the United States.
The very first performance held at the venue was by Erich Kunzel along with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. The Pops also performed the first live concert that was televised from Cincinnati. Some other notable performances include Dave Matthews Band, Sting, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Jimmy Buffett, etc. The amphitheater has also hosted some musical events like Crüe Fest, Projekt Revolution, Vans Warped Tour, Lollapalooza, Lilith Fair, etc.
