The Galen Center is an indoor arena located in Los Angeles, California. It is also an athletic facility under the University of Southern California's ownership. It broke ground on October 30, 2004, and opened for the public on October 12, 2006, with the architecture of the building by HNTB. The Galen Center serves as the home field of the USC Trojans basketball and USC volleyball. The arena also hosts pageants, concerts, high school performances, theatrical performances, graduation ceremonies, the Academic Decathlon, and CIF championships.
From 2011 to 2014, and again in 2017, the annual Kids' Choice Awards were held at the Galen Center. The first-ever event held at the arena was a women's volleyball game between USC and Stanford University on October 12, 2006. Al Green played the first concert at the venue on October 21, 2006. On November 16, 2006, the first men's basketball game versus the University of South Carolina was played at the arena. The arena has a seating capacity of 10,258 for basketball events.
The highest attendance estimated at the Galen Center was 10,027 in the first year. It was calculated during the Cal Bears men's basketball game on February 24, 2007. An overall highest attendance of 10,258 was at the arena during the USC men's basketball game against the Arizona Wildcats on January 31, 2008. The venue also hosted a heavyweight title boxing fight between Bermane Stiverne and Chris Arreola.
