The McCaw Hall has a full name, Marion Oliver McCaw Hall, which was formerly known as Seattle Opera House and the Civic Auditorium. The venue is a performing arts hall which is located at 321 Mercer Street, Seattle, Washington. The theater is under the ownership of the City of Seattle with a seating capacity of 2,963. The concert hall was opened to the general public on 18 May 1928 (initially as a civic auditorium) with a construction cost of $90 million.
It underwent renovations in the years 1959–1962 and 2002–2003. The two tenants to this hall are the Seattle Opera and Pacific Northwest Ballet. The venue is named in honor of Marion Oliver McCaw, whose four sons donated $20 million to fund a major renovation in 2003. The renovation architecture was done by LMN Architects.
