Fifth Third Bank Stadium was initially built as a soccer stadium located near Kennesaw, Georgia. The stadium was primarily known as Kennesaw State University Stadium until 2013, used as the home for the Kennesaw State Owls football team and KSU women's lacrosse and soccer teams. The stadium was built in 2010 and opened for the local public on May 2, 2010, designed by Rossetti Architects. It is under the ownership of the Kennesaw State University Foundation and is operated by Kennesaw State University. The stadium has a seating capacity of 8,318.

The venue resulted from a public-private partnership between the now-defunct Atlanta Beat of Women's Professional Soccer and Kennesaw State University. Atlanta Beat (WPS) (2010–2011) and Atlanta Blaze (MLL) (2016–2018) are two former tenants of Fifth Third Bank Stadium. The venue hosted a 2019 CONCACAF Champions League match on February 28, where Atlanta United FC defeated C.S. Herediano.

Fifth Third Bank Stadium is a bowl-shaped stadium with a stage at one end to facilitate concerts. The stadium helps showcase varsity athletics at KSU. In September 2010, it was announced by KSU that it planned to launch a football program in 2014 at the Division I FCS level. For this project, the stadium would be used as its home field. The stadium also hosted a home-and-home series of rugby matches played between the United States and Uruguay.
