The Budweiser Stage is a concert venue located at 909 Lake Shore Boulevard, W. Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was formerly known as the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre. The open-air theater opened to the general public on May 18, 1995, with a construction cost of $15 million. It has a seating capacity of 16,000 approximately. Michael Moxam designed the architecture of the Budweiser Stage. The venue is under the ownership of the Government of Ontario (administered as an agency of the Ontario Ministry of Tourism and Culture). The new Molson Amphitheatre won the RPM Magazine’s ‘Best New Concert Venue’ in 1995.
The Budweiser Stage has hosted many diverse acts, including genres like pop, country, rock, and jazz. Bryan Adams was the first musician to perform at the Budweiser Stage before a sold-out audience on May 18, 1995. Rush performed two nights in a row at the venue in 1997, on the Test for Echo Tour. Van Halen also performed two nights in a row at the outdoor theater in August 1995. Depeche Mode performed three times at the Budweiser Stage. The amphitheater also hosted the Canadian rapper, Drake’s annual OVO festival from 2010 till 2015. The festival featured performances by Eminem, Drake, Lil Wayne, A$AP Rocky, Jay-Z, Kayne West, and many others.
