California Memorial Stadium, also known as Memorial Stadium, is an outdoor football stadium located at Canyon Road, Berkeley, California. It opened to the general public on November 24, 1923, with a construction cost of $ 1,437,982. The stadium has a seating capacity of approximately 63,000 people. The architecture of the venue was designed by John Galen Howard, Baker and Carpenter, and Georges Cunningham committee. The design is based on Neoclassicism and Modernism theme. The stadium underwent some major renovation on September 1, 2012. Traditionally, during all football games and especially during the Big Game against Stanford, the hill overlooking the eastern side of Memorial Stadium attracts spectators hoping to watch a game for free. Due to this, the stadium earned the nickname "Tightwad Hill."

California Memorial Stadium is the home field for the University of California Golden Bear of the Pac-12 Conference. Besides treating the fans of all age groups with several great moments in the history of California football, it also hosted commencement ceremonies of the University of California, Commemorate Charter Day, 2014 International Champions Cup, and other public gatherings. The venue is dedicated as a memorial to Californians who lost their lives in World War l and later assigned to those who sacrificed their lives in service to the Nation. It is named as one of the top college football stadiums by various publications. The stadium got listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on Nov 27, 2006.
