SHI Stadium, formerly known as Rutgers Stadium and High Point Solutions Stadium, is a football stadium located at 1 Scarlet Knight Way, Piscataway, New Jersey. It serves home to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (NCAA) football team. The stadium has also been home to Rutgers' women's and men's lacrosse teams since 2014. The venue opened to the general public on September 3, 1994, as Rutgers Stadium. It has a seating capacity of about 52,454 people. It is under the ownership of Rutgers University. GSGSBH designed the architecture of the site. The stadium features a cannon for firing when Rutgers scores and light stanchions.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights played against the Kent State Golden Flashes on September 3, 1994, as an inaugural game of the stadium. The site achieved its highest attendance record of 53,774 people in a game between Rutgers and Penn State on September 13, 2014. In addition to football games, the stadium has also hosted NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship games in 1998, 2001, and 2002 along with the 1995 U.S. Cup soccer tournament. Every year in October and December, the stadium hosts USBands Marching Band New Jersey State Championships and NJSIAA state football playoffs, respectively. University Commencement has been held in the stadium each May since 2011. At the 250th Anniversary Commencement on May 15, 2016, President Obama delivered a lecture.
