The Theatre of the Living Arts is a concert venue. It is commonly knowns as the TLA. The theatre is located at South Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Theatre of the Living Arts was open to the general public in 1908. The venue has a seating capacity of about 1000 people. It underwent major renovations in the years 1941, 1957, 1965, 1970, 1987, and 2006. The Theatre of the Living Arts is under the ownership and is operated by Live Nation Philadelphia. The venue was known for its acoustics. It was voted as one of the best concert venues in America.
The Theatre of the Living Arts has shown several popular movies along with art films, serials, foreigners, and controversial films. There was also a midnight film series, where the theater showed horror films. The Rocky Horror Picture Show was featured at the theater in 1976, which made the venue the first one in Philadelphia to show this Mid Night Movie. It has also been used by the American Theatre Arts for Youth for several productions such as The Wizard Of Oz, Babes In Toy land, and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
