Faurot Field of the Memorial Stadium was named in honor of the longtime coach Don Faurot. The stadium underwent many renovations, including the 1978, 2003, and 2012 renovation. The venue was expanded in 1949–1950, 1961–1965, 1971, 1978, 1996, 2003, 2009, and more recently in 2019. The architecture of the building is done by Jamieson and Spearl (original) and Ellerbe Becket (renovation). Faurot Field is an early 20th-century horseshoe-shaped stadium.
Memorial Stadium was dedicated to the 112 alumni and students who lost their lives in World War I on October 2, 1926. The rock "M" above the stadium's end zone is the possibly most historic and identifiable stadium's landmark. The record attendance for Faurot Field is estimated to be 75,298. The record was set on October 4, 1980, when Missouri hosted Penn State.
