Merrill Auditorium is located at 20 Myrtle Street, Portland, Maine. It is an auditorium with a seating capacity of 1,908 people at a time. The theater was initially known as the Portland City Hall Auditorium. It is under the ownership of the City of Portland and was inaugurated in the year 1912. The venue underwent a major renovation in the year 1997 along with a significant rebuilding process. The auditorium features a large pipe organ which is famous as Hermann Kotzschmar Memorial Organ. Cyrus Curtis donated this organ whereas the Austin Organ Company built it. The Merrill Auditorium serves primary home to the Portland Symphony Orchestra, Portland Ovations and the Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ.

The building also includes Portland Ballet, Opera Maine, and Maine State Ballet. The events that are hosted by the auditorium include comedy, corporate functions, concerts, Broadway shows, symphony orchestra, and some other special events.
