It is a land-based casino under the ownership of Gaming and Leisure Properties. There are 390 rooms and a total gaming space of 92,000 sq ft. The venue was opened for the public on March 1, 2009. The official operating license holder of the casino is Penn National Gaming. Since its inception, M Resort Spa Casino was given a four-star rating every year from the Forbes Travel Guide. This deemed the property as one of the finest hotels worldwide. The total construction cost of the project was approximately $1 billion.

Marnell Corrao Associates was responsible for master planning, development, program management, construction, design, property management, FFE procurement, and even general contractor. Penn National Gaming bought the resort in October 2010 for $231 million. The following June, M Resort Spa Casino was acquired by them.
