The Montalvo Arts Center is a center for the arts located in Saratoga, California. The center was built in 1912-1914 by California businessman and statesman James Duval Phelan. After his death, the estate was donated to California as a park and, later on, the arts and cultural park. This venue is a historic landmark, inducted into the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The building architect was done by William Curlett and Charles Gottschalk in the late 19th And 20th Century Mediterranean Revival and an Italian-style villa. Some of the notable amenities featured in the arts center are hiking trails, a park, and a historic Villa Montalvo. The last one is an Italian Mediterranean Revival mansion.

The Montalvo Arts Center hosts a 137-acre arboretum along with a botanical garden. Still known as “Villa Montalvo” by residents, the venue is free and open to the public during daylight hours. The arboretum can be found adjacent to the villa. There is a long list of forest trees present, such as evergreen, redwood, and chaparral. Some of the Santa Cruz Mountains’ native trees are Douglas fir, big-leaf maple, tanoak, bay, California nutmeg, and coast live oak.

The Montalvo Arts Center was named Villa Montalvo by Phelan in honor of the popular 16th-century Spanish writer Garci Ordonez de Montalvo.
