The theatre was open to the general public on February 14, 1968. The venue has a seating capacity of 5,600 people. The theatre is owned by The Madison Square Garden Company and operated by MSG Entertainment. Charles Luckman Associates designed the architecture of the theatre. The Theatre underwent renovations on and off through 1989-1991 and 2011-2013. The venue served residence to the NFL Draft from 1995 to 2004.
