AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision
El Paso County Coliseum is located at 4100 East Paisano Street, El Paso, Texas. It is a multi-purpose arena that was opened on May 21, 1942. The venue was formerly known as the "El Paso County Livestock & Agricultural Exhibition Building," or the "Livestock Exposition Building." It was said to be the largest Coliseum between Los Angeles, Denver, and Fort Worth upon opening. There are numerous livestock buildings behind the main Coliseum. The inauguration dinner of the Coliseum cost $1 per person. There were 5000 attendees at the opening event where the band from Bowie High School played.
It is owned and operated by El Paso Sports Commission. The arena has a seating capacity of 5,200 seats while the capacity is in the range of 6,500 or 11,000. The site was built to host rodeo events. A variety of activities that have been held at the Coliseum includes hockey, dog shows, flower shows, Ice Capades, roller derby, high school graduations, basketball, boxing, circus, concerts, wrestling and much more. In addition to events, the Coliseum was also used to temporarily house prisoners of braceros, war, and the Texas State Guard. The building's architecture was designed by Percy McGhee. It underwent renovations in the years 2001 and 2003.
The very first event that was hosted by the venue was the El Paso Sheriff's Posse Rodeo in June 1942. A concert by Alice Cooper was also recorded by ABC Radio as part of their SuperGroups In Concert series on June 4, 1980.
