The XL Center, which was originally known as the Hartford Civic Center, is a multi-purpose arena located at 1 Civic Center Plaza, Hartford, Connecticut, United States. The place was opened for the public on January 9, 1975. The venue has a seating capacity of 15,564 (Basketball), and 14,750 (Ice Hockey) (9,801 with curtain system). The arena is owned by the City of Hartford and operated by Global Spectrum. Kling & Associates designed the architecture of the building. The place is the full-time home venue to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL Hockey team and part-time home to the University of Connecticut men’s and women’s basketball team.
The XL Center hosted the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions in 2016. Professional Wrestling events such as 2019 Money in the Bank, 2004 Vengeance, Wrestlemania XI, 2000 No Way Out, and 1990 Survivor Series were hosted at this venue. The 1988-1990 America East Conference and 1982 Big East Conference men’s basketball tournaments were held at this place. Men’s college basketball tournament, which was organized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), took place at the arena on March 3 and 5, 1977.
