The Morrison Center for the Performing Arts is a premier art performing center of Idaho. It is located at 2201 W Cesar Chavez Ln, on the campus of Boise State University, Idaho. It has a seating capacity of 2,037 seats and a ten-story stage house. Velma, Mr. Morrison's wife, inaugurated Morrison Center in 1984. She did that to embrace her husband's dream to open a performing arts center in his hometown. It is owned and operated by the Boise State University. The architecture of the venue was designed by the Lombard-Conrad Architect Firm. Theatre has perfect acoustics with the roomy seating arrangement.
The Morrison Center is the home stage for various local arts groups like Boise State University's Music, Theatre Arts Departments, Boise Philharmonic, Ballet Idaho and Opera Idaho. This theater is annually hosting hundreds of events including inspirational genres, family shows, big band classical, jazz, and lectures. Some of the notable performance that held at the Center includes Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell performance, Jerry Seinfeld, Isaac Stern, Bill Cosby, Itzhak Perlman, David Copperfield, Harry Bellefonte, Hal Holbrook, and many others. This Center also regularly hosts free performances for the community. In 2017, at the yearly Mayor's Awards for Excellence in Arts and History, Mayor David Bieter named the Center as a City of Boise Cultural Ambassador.
