Boston Ballet - The Nutcracker

The Boston Opera House, which is also known as the Citizens Bank Opera House, is located at 539, Washington Street, Boston, Massachusetts, United States. The arena was opened on October 29, 1928. In 1990, due to some financial crises, the arena management decided to close this venue. Later on, Mayor Thomas Menino put his efforts to restore the damaged venue at the cost of $38 million. The theater reopened on July 16, 2004. The Boston Opera House is owned by the Boston Opera House Ventures, LLC. The venue has a seating capacity of around 2,600 people at a time.

The architect of the building was designed by Thomas W.Lamb. The venue, when formed, was known as B.F. Keith Memorial Theatre and for approx 50 years, it served as a movie theatre. Later in 1980, it was rededicated as a home to the Opera Company of Boston. The company operated until 1990 before closing down the venue due to its financial instability.

The venue hosted the Broadway production of The Lion King after its reopening in 2004. Many other traveling Broadway shows have been through the theater including Jersey Boys, Book of Mormon, Hamilton, and Wicked.
