WesBanco Arena, formerly known as Wheeling Civic Center, is a multi-purpose arena located at 214th Street, Wheeling, West Virginia. The construction of the venue began in 1975, costing a total amount of $28.9 million. The arena opened for the general public on April 19, 1977. WesBanco Arena is owned and operated by Wheeling Municipal Auditorium Board. The venue has a seating capacity of 5,600 people for concerts and 5,406 people for Ice Hockey at a time. Dalton-Dalton Little and Newport designed the architecture of the arena.
WesBanco Arena is known for hosting a wide range of events such as trade shows, concerts, conventions, sports events, and banquets. It serves as home to the two different sports teams and a wrestling tournament named West Virginia Roughriders arena football team, Wheeling Nailers ice hockey team and Ohio Valley Athletic Conference wrestling tournament. Not only this but the venue also hosts the weekly meetings and club launches of area Kiwanis, Lions, Civitan, etc. in its biggest meeting hall called "Health Plan Pavilion." This arena also hosted the third, fourth, and fifth matches of the 2016 Kelly Cup Finals. The venue also serves host to local teams. The performances of some renowned names in the WesBanco Arena include Larry the Cable Guy, Jeff Dunham, Chicago, Lord of the Dance, Elton John, Blue Man Group and Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. The upcoming events at the venue include Wheeling Nailers vs. Indy Fuel and Osiris Shrine Circus.
