Midland Theatre, which is known for sponsorships as, “Arvest Bank Theatre at the Midland” is located at 1228 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri, United States. The theatre was opened on October 27, 1927. It went through the rebuilding process in the years 1961, 1988, 1998, and 2008. The theatre has a seating capacity of around 3200 people which was once 3,573 before the year 2008. It was one of the largest theatres in the city when built. It was initially known as the Loew’s Midland Theater until 1961. Currently, it has various names; Saxon Theatre, Midland Stadium, Midland Theatre, etc. The theater was added to the list of historic venues on the National Register of Historic Places in the year 1977. It is under the ownership of The Cordish Company.
The theatre was built by Marcus Loew for $4 million. The architecture was designed by W. Lamb of the New York and the Boller Brothers of the Kansas City. The exterior was constructed in Renaissance Revival style with cream Glazed terra cotta bricks used. The theatre has some unique art objects and antiques including 500,000 feet of gold leaf, making it popular. The venue hosts different events throughout the year, including concerts, trade shows, private parties, wedding events, and corporate parties. Every year, the venue is projected to host around 125 family shows, concerts, award shows, and charity events.
