The Mohegan Sun Arena is known initially as Northeastern Pennsylvania Civic Arena and Convention Center while it was formerly known as Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza and First Union Arena at Casey Plaza. It is located at 255 Highland Park Boulevard, Wilkes-Barre Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The venue has a seating capacity of 8,300 (Hockey) and 10,000 (Concerts). It is under the ownership of the Luzerne County Convention Center Authority while operated by SMG. It is a multi-purpose arena that was opened to the public on November 13, 1999, with a construction cost of $44 million. The architecture of the building is designed by Heinlein Schrock. It currently serves home to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) since 1999. It has been by many entertainment magazines among the best arena with under 10,000 capacity in the country.

The arena hosts a variety of events including Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hockey games, circus performances, professional ice-skating shows, Harlem Globetrotters, an annual Christmas-time Trans-Siberian Orchestra performance, professional wrestling, concerts, political events, and the annual graduation ceremonies. Some famous events held at the venue are WCW Monday Nitro, 2007 WWE Draft, 900th episode of WWE Smackdown, etc. President George W. Bush and Donald Trump carried out speeches and rallies in the arena for campaigns. Concerts held in this arena are performed by Bob Dylan, The Dead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Elton John, and The Eagles.
