University Stadium Albuquerque, formerly University Stadium and Dreamstyle Stadium, is a stadium located on the south campus of the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. It opened for the local public in September 1960, and since then, the Stadium has been hosting big events. The current seating capacity of the Stadium is 39,224, while the playing surface of the Stadium is named “Turner & Margaret Branch Field.” The local attorneys, Turner & Margaret Branch, secured the stadium’s naming rights playing surface in 2012. Later, UNM announced the 10-year naming rights agreement with Dreamstyle Remodeling on May 3, 2017.
Many notable events have taken place at the venue to date. The Stadium serves as home to the New Mexico Lobos football (NCAA) since 1960 and New Mexico Bowl (NCAA) since 2006. The Stadium also hosted the Zia Bowl in early December 1979 and 1980, a Division II national championship.
In May 2004, The Stadium hosted the U.S. women’s national soccer team Women’s World Cup. The Stadium has also hosted three U.S. men’s national soccer team matches, been a favorite place for concerts, and many big names have performed. Appearances such as Santana (September 23, 1974), Metallica (August 2, 1994), and The Rolling Stones (October 30, 1997) have taken place at the venue.
