The Columbus Athenaeum is a beautifully restored urban palace that is located in the heart of downtown Columbus. The venue was built in 1896, and it is situated close to many hotels and entertainment venues. The original construction of the palace began on the new home of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. Right after two years, the Masonic Temple opened at the corner of Fourth and Lynn Streets. The venue was designed for the first time in 1898 by Yost & Packard, Kremer & Hart, and John M. Freese.

In 1912-13, the Columbus Athenaeum was substantially expanded under the design of Stribling & Lum. The further renovation took place in 1935. During the 1914 expansion, the Northern side of the palace was designed. The largest Ballroom in Downtown Columbus named The Grand Ballroom, was added. It is a 1,000-seat Auditorium. The main venue features two theatres, many elegant rooms, a ballroom, and many other additions suitable for any occasion. The palace is available for parties, weddings, business seminars, theatrical productions, and the list goes on. The events are made memorable with audio-visual experts on staff and a full menu.

The majestic Olympian Ballroom within the Columbus Athenaeum has a seating capacity of 900. The Oak Room is adjacent to the Ballroom. For parties of 230 or less, the Small Theater and the Large Theater are the best choices. Next is the Athenian Room, the Hellenic Room, and the Macedonian Room, ideal for 75-150 people. For groups of 100, the Spartan Room and the Corinthian Room are ideal.
