The Akron Civic Theatre, formerly known as the Loew's Theatre, is located at 182 S Main St, Akron, Ohio. It was built and opened to the general public on April 20, 1929. The current seating capacity of the venue is around 2,592. It was first owned by L. Oscar Beck in 1921 and later by Marcus Loew in 1925. John Eberson designed the architecture of the theatre. It is considered as one of only sixteen remaining atmospheric theatres in the United States. This theatre is an excellent example of the grand movie palaces of the 1920s. The interior of the arena is designed to resemble a Moorish castle. It closed down for a significant renovation in 2000 and got reopened in November 2002.

Akron Civic Theatre hosts a wide variety of events, including off-Broadway musicals, comedy events, concerts, as well as occasional movie nights. Famous comedian, Tim Conway performed at the reopening ceremony of the theatre in 2002. The Pretenders, Devo, The Black Keys, and Warrant are among the famous rock bands that used the theatre's stage to entertain their fans. It has also hosted plays and musicals, including The Apple Tree, Fiddler on the Roof, and Mame. Celebrities such as Mickey Rooney and Louis Armstrong have also performed at the venue.
