The Detroit Opera House is an ornate opera house which is located at 1526 Broadway Street, Detroit, Michigan, United States. The theatre was opened to the public on January 22, 1922. The venue underwent renovation in the year 1996. The theater has a seating capacity of around 2,700 people. The Detroit Opera House is home to the Michigan Opera Theatre as well as a variety of other tenants.

The venue's architecture was initially designed by C. Howard Crane. He was the prominent designer who also designed the Fox Theatre, The Fillmore Detroit, and Orchestra Hall of the Detroit Symphony. The theatre was decorated in the Italian Renaissance style with lavish crystal chandeliers, brass fixtures, frescoes, drinking fountains and marble stairways.

This venue hosted big-name stars of their times such as Duke Ellington, Betty Hutton, Gale Storm, Sal Mineo, Will Rogers, and Louis Armstrong in its first few decades. The theatre was closed in the year 1978 and reopened in 1981 with the same name. After a small fire-burn that happened in the theatre, it closed its doors in November 1988 for 3 years before reopening.

Box office ticket purchasing hours are from Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM and 3 hours before the curtain opens on the event day. You can also purchase tickets online at TicketsOnSale.com at the best prices.
