The Liacouras Center is a multi-purpose arena which is located at 1776 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The arena opened its doors to the public on November 11, 1997, and was initially named “The Apollo of Temple.” It has a seating capacity of around 10,206 people at a time. The center is owned by the Temple University and operated by Global Spectrum. The architecture of the arena was designed by Vitetta Group Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback, and Associates.
The Liacouras is a complete entertainment venue that features concerts, Philly Roller Derby bouts, family shows, Dramatic presentations, and Philadelphia KiXX games. The arena also holds the university convocation and graduation ceremonies and high school graduations as well. Some big names who have performed at the arena are 50 Cents, Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean, Maroon 5, Bob Dylan, John Mayer, Green Day, Steve Harvey, Wheel of Fortune, Katt Williams as well as President Barack Obama has also been to this arena on November 2, 2014. The opening round of NCAA Women’s Division I Basketball Tournament also took place in the venue in 2004.
