The Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl (formerly Cox Arena and named after the Cox Communication), is located at 5500 Canyon Crest Drive, San Diego, California. The venue has a seating capacity of 12,845 (center stage concerts), 12,414 (basketball), and 12,200 (end-stage concerts). It was opened to the general public on July 24, 1997, with a construction cost of $29 million. The arena is under the ownership of San Diego State University and is operated by the owner. The architect of the venue is designed by the Carrier Johnson and Sink Combs Dethlefs.
The arena is home to the San Diego State Aztecs men's basketball and women's basketball teams. The faculty also serves to host to SDSU's commencement ceremonies. It also hosted the men's NCAA basketball tournament first and second rounds in 2001, 2006, 2014, and 2018 along with WCW's Bash at the Beach, WCW Monday Nitro episodes, TNA Wrestling Bound For Glory 2013, etc.
The venue has also hosted some popular concerts by Britney Spears, Blink-182, Foo Fighters, Janet Jackson, A Day to Remember, Metallica, KISS, Van Halen, Lady Gaga, One Direction, Fleetwood Mac, and many more. It was also the host at the filming of Megadeth's live DVD Blood in the Water: Live in San Diego.
