Township Auditorium, also called Columbia Township Auditorium, is a historic auditorium located at 1703 Taylor St. Columbia, South Carolina. It opened in 1930 with the Georgian Revival style. The theater has a seating capacity of 3,072 for standard concert seating and 3,383 with general admission floor seating. The facility is owned and operated by Richland County. It has undergone a complete renovation and modernization along with historic preservation.
Township Auditorium has hosted concerts, orchestra, music shows, comedy shows, family shows and much more. The artists who showed their talent include Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen,The Jacksons, Blue Öyster Cult, The Clash, Athens' R.E.M. , the Beastie Boys,Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blues Traveler, The Smashing Pumpkins, Toad the WetSprocket, Virginia's Dave Matthews, Live, Godsmack, Alicia Keys, Train, andSwitchfoot, Tony Bennett, Jason Isbell, Cake, Rise Against with Florida's A Day to Remember, John Legend, Charlotte's K-Ci & JoJo and Anthony Hamilton,Mary J. Blige, Bob Dylan, ZZ Top, and several more. It has also served host to comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chappelle, Gabriel Iglesias and many more.
