DeVos Place Convention Center is a multi-purpose convention center which is located at 303 Monroe Ave NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan. The venue is named in honor of Richard DeVos, who donated $20 million for the construction of this center. The DeVos Performance Hall has a seating capacity of 2,400. It was inaugurated in 2004 and is under the ownership of Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention/Arena Authority while operated by SMG. The convention center includes a free exhibit hall, ballroom, 12 spacious loading docks that allow easy access to the exhibit hall, and 26 individual meeting rooms.
The building of the convention center has a south side which was originally called the Grand Center (featuring the DeVos Performance Hall and Civic Auditorium). The theatre of DeVos Performance Hall serves home to the Broadway Grand Rapids and Grand Rapids Symphony. The space of the center can also be used for the keynote address or a general session.
The venue has hosted some popular concerts which were performed by B.B. King, Barenaked Ladies, Tori Amos, Eddie Money, James Taylor, Harry Connick, Jr. along with comedians like Bill Cosby, Daniel Middleton, Ron White, and Jerry Seinfeld. Some popular family shows hosted by the center are Bear in The Big Blue House Live, Dora The Explorer Live, Blue’s Clues Live and Thomas & Friends Live. Eddie Money performs a concert every year in this venue for decades.
