Keeneland Fall Race Meet
Keeneland Association Inc. is an American equine business based in Lexington, Kentucky. The business includes two distinct divisions: Keeneland Sales, a horse auction complex, and the Keeneland Race Course, a Thoroughbred racing facility. It is also recognized for its reference library. Keeneland Association Inc. opened in 1936. The Horseplayers Association of North America introduced a rating system for around 65 Thoroughbred racetracks in North America during 2009. Keeneland was number one in the top ten tracks. It has also been listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1986.
Since 1936, Keeneland Race Course has conducted a live race every year in April and October. Keeneland also takes pride in maintaining racing traditions and has been featured in the 2005 movie named, Dreamer and the 2010 movie named Secretariat. The racecourse has adopted several innovations over time. In 2015, Keeneland hosted the Breeders’ Cup for the first time. A few notable races that have been held at the Keeneland include Blue Grass Stakes (G2), Breeders’ Futurity Stakes (G1), Turf Mile Stakes (G1), and Ashland Stakes (G1).
TV personalities Keeneland Association Inc. features include Katie Mikolay Gensler (2013-present) and Mike Battaglia (1974-present). In 2018, Keeneland was named again as the host for the 2020 Breeders’ Cup.
