The theatre has a seating capacity of 7,100, and it was opened to the local public on October 17, 2007. The theatre has the largest indoor stage in the USA. It is under the ownership of Anschutz Entertainment Group and operated by AEG Live.
The architectural job for the venue is carried out by ELS Architecture along with the Urban Design of Berkeley, California. The opening ceremony of the theatre took place with six concerts that featured The Dixie Chicks and The Eagles. The Peacock Theater was previously named the Microsoft Theatre on June 7, 2015.
This venue served host to various award shows annually most notably the Primetime Emmy Awards. It also hosted The Grammy Nominations Live concert, the annual American Music Awards, the ESPY Awards, the annual People's Choice Awards, The Game Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, Radio Disney Music Awards, and various others. The theatre also hosted some boxing matches and is a selected venue for the 2028 Olympics. The press conferences by Microsoft and Nintendo also use this venue multiple times.
