Ahmanson Theater is located at 135 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, California. It is one of the significant four venues comprising the Los Angeles Music Center. This theater was built from the donation of Howard F. Ahmanson, Sr. who is the founder of H.F Ahmanson and Co. and was named after his second wife, Caroline Leonetti Ahmanson, businesswoman and philanthropist.

Ahmanson Theater was opened to the public on April 12, 1967. This inauguration took place under the sponsorship of the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera Association for the cast production of,” Man of La Mancha.” The theater was also the U.S. premier of, “More Stately Mansions.” This theater kept offering a great number of musicals, dramas, comedies, classics, revivals, etc. Also, it has served as the co-producer for various Broadway productions which include The Most Happy Fella, Amadeus, etc.

Ahmanson Theater was under renovations throughout 1994. From mezzanine to acoustics, everything was renovated which resulted in Broadway-sized musicals comprising of 2084 seats. The architect was under the responsibility of Ellerbe Beckett Architects and construction was done by Robert F. Mahoney and Associates. This entire renovation stuff took around eight months for completion. The theater was reopened on January 25, 1995.
