The Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium is a performing art, culture, and community facility. The auditorium is located at 11455 87 Ave NW, Edmonton, Alberta. The site was built in the year 1955 as a neighbor of the University of Alberta to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The venue is under the ownership of the Government of Alberta and operated by the owner.
It serves home to Ukrainian Shumka Dancers, Alberta Ballet, and Edmonton Opera. The auditorium has a seating capacity of 2,538. The building consists of a meeting room, banquet room, rehearsal hall, and luxury suite available to rent. It hosts a variety of events such as trade shows, meetings, Broadway shows, stand-up comedians, theatre productions, bands, orchestras, dance festivals, and awards ceremonies. It underwent major renovations in the year 2005 with a cost of $91 million. The Auditorium was declared as the busiest theater in Canada selling 146,555 tickets in 2009 by the Pollstar (theater reviewer) in the year 2010.
Some notable events held at the auditorium include the performance of Procol Harum along with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra on 19th November 1971. After recording this show was released as a live album, entitled Procol Harum Live: In Concert with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
