The Dow Event Center, which was formerly known as the Saginaw County Event Center and Saginaw Civic Center, is located at 303 Johnson Street, Saginaw, Michigan. The center was opened to the general public in 1972. The seating capacity of the venue is around 7,647 (Concerts), 6,217 (Basketball), 5,527 (Hockey), and 5,201 (Indoor Football). The center is owned by the Saginaw County while it is operated by SMG.
The venue served home to the Saginaw Spirit of Ontario Hockey League. The architecture of the center was designed by Wigen, Tincknell, Meyer and Associates, Inc. The renovation of the Dow Event Center took place in 2003. Due to the lack of funds provided by the city, the center nearly faced foreclosure.
The naming rights of the venue were purchased by “The Dow Chemical Company” in September 2004. In support of the re-election of United States President George W. Bush, the center hosted Republican political rallies two times during the summer of 2004.
The Dow Event Center hosts hundreds of events, concerts, trade shows, graduations, and political rallies throughout the year. The center hosted the third WWF In Your House on September 24, 1995. Every year, the Dow Event Center hosts Jehovah’s Witnesses District Conventions. In 2011, a record was built in this arena for the fastest sellouts where Katy Perry was expected to perform during her California Dreams Tour.
Box Office hours for the events to be held at the Dow Event Center are Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM or you can also purchase tickets online at TicketsOnSale.com.
