The PNC Arts Center, genuinely named the Garden State Arts Center, is located at Garden State Parkway, Holmdel Township, Exit 116, New Jersey. Holmdel is a north Jersey gem and just a short drive from New York City. The venue is an amphitheater with a seating capacity of 17,500. The Arts Center is owned by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and operated by Live Nation. The amphitheater was opened to the general public on 12 June 1968 with a construction cost of $6.75 million. The center was expanded in the year 1996. Edward Durell Stone designed the architecture of the Arts Center.
In the beginning, many free daytime programs were presented for school children, senior citizens, the disadvantaged, and the disabled. On the holidays, the PNC Bank Arts Center bloomed with the spectacular lights around it. It is one of the leading and auspicious amphitheaters in the country. Many famous performers have performed at the Arts Center named; James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, The Spice Girls (1998), Jonas Brothers (2008), The Allman Brothers Band (1994) and Sting (2010). Glen Campbell recorded his album at the PNC Bank Arts Center in 1969 along with Dionne Warwick, and Jackson Browne (1977).
